During the week of June 7-12, we joined more than 130 families for a Families on Mission project in Bryson City/Cherokee, NC.
Our group was divided into 7 different teams. Teams 1-3 worked in campgrounds and senior centers. Teams 4-6 worked on different construction/painting projects. Team 7 did "Random Acts of Kindness", traveling around the community doing yard work, cleaning, etc.
We joined team #3 in the campground/senior center ministry. Sunday morning, we ministered in two different campgrounds - Yogi in the Smokies, and the KOA Campground. Joe did a gospel illusion presentation in the first service, and Jethro showed up at the second service. Brenda had her hammered dulcimer, and shared music and signing at both campgrounds. There was evangelism training in the afternoon, then the teams dispursed to prayer walk the areas they would be ministering in during the week.
Our schedule on Monday through Wednesday was to head for the campgrounds in the morning, and the senior centers in the afternoon. We participated in a Kids' Camp each morning. Most of our team stayed at the KOA campground all three days. Because of the type of ministry we do, we rotated with two other families to different campgrounds each day. In the afternoons, we were back with our team, and visited a different senior center each day. Jethro was quite a hit in all areas.
